At the Market

This morning we decided to venture out to the farmer’s market for the first time this season.  It’s a hot and steamy day here in New England, but the market was well shaded and had a breeze.  Shopping–and then eating–turned out to be quite pleasant.  There was myriad vegetables available: mostly greens, a few radishes, and a couple of strawberries.  Then there were the bakers and meat and cheese vendors!  I am really looking forward to the coming weeks and the bounty of local goods.  It’s so fun to see what’s coming into season, buying what looks good, and then figuring out what to make from it all.  Tonight I think we’ll try something that’s recently come to my attention thanks to A Homemade Life: radishes on baguette with butter and salt.  Gotta try it, right?!

After shopping for a bit, we found a shady spot in the park and snacked on a fresh baguette, strawberries, and a pear smoothie.  Couldn’t have started the weekend off on a better note!  I hope you are having a great one too.

And then there was yarn:

And a cute baby, too:

  1. It was an American friend who put me onto butter and radishes as a winning combination. I used to just use salt flakes, then I tried the butter. Oh my. Same friend said that fat helps vegetable nutrients be absorbed. I tell myself that when I’m having a lick or two of butter with my radishes.

PB has the most expressive little face! Adorable.

  2. Wow! Where, exactly, was this farmer’s market? Any market that sells yarn is alright with me! 😉

  3. Yummy….now I know what you’ve been up to…I like the merge and the button idea for the vest. Peaceful Baby looks happy as ever!
