Reflections

I had the recent pleasure of exploring a fully restored ’57 Chevy.  The owner is my grandmother’s “special friend”, and he purchased this car new.  Can you imagine?  He loved this car so much that he cared for it all those years, then gave it a facelift so he could enjoy it some more.  And pick up his lady friend and drive her to bingo at the Senior Center, of course.  I love that.

Is there anything in your life you enjoy as much as this?

For me, this is a tough question to answer.  Who is to say which interests, passions, or possessions will stay with us for the next 50 or so years?  There is one thing that comes to the front of my mind, of course…

Knitting has been quite meaningful in my life over the last 4 years.  When life has been uncertain, stressful, or even full of celebration, knitting has been a constant source of calm, comfort, and inspiration.  I like to think that as long as I am able, there will be knitting in my life.

  1. I like this post lots, Sonia! I hope to be knitting, spinning and potting into my 100’s….. And playing with the kiddos!

  2. Oh my god what a beautiful car and I’m totally not a car person! I was just thinking last night as I was riding my bike how the poncho I was wearing was going to be one of the few things I own I would think to grab if the house was on fire. My Peruvian grandmother crocheted it for me and now that I knit myself I can connect more with that type of love energy fused into the handwork.
