Yarn Along:: Still Knitting…

From Small ThingsTwo of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?

I think this is at least the 3rd time I’ve shown this green knitting for Yarn Along Day!  I guess that just gives you a clear idea of just how long it’s taking me to finish up this sweater. The arms and back seemed to go so fast as they were plain stockinette with just a bit of shaping.  I am really enjoying knitting up the front with its pretty leaves, but the chart and keeping track of increases and decreases keeps this firmly in the “knit when PB is asleep” category.

Enter the blue yarn.  That’s Malabrigo merino worsted in Bobby Blue, and it’s going to be an Owlet sweater.  I knew it would fit the bill for my “knit when PB is awake” category of knitting when the pattern says something like “Cast on x number of stitches, knit 8 inches”.  Perfect!  So far it’s speeding right along; I even took it with me to toddler storytime at the library today and was able to knit a few rows!

And on to the book: Unearthly by Cynthia Hand (a college classmate of mine!).  I started reading it at beginning of January, but cast it aside in favor of finishing up Animal, Vegetable, Miracle.  Then came a couple of other nonfiction reads.  Now I need a little paranormal romance fiction so it’s back in the rotation, and I am really enjoying it.  If you liked Twilight, you’re going to really like this.  And if you didn’t like those vampire books, you’re probably going to love this because it has a plot and strong female characters (with some wit, teen angst, crushes, and no violence so far). ; )

What are you knitting or crocheting this week?  Any good books on your nightstand?

  1. I’m currently reading “A Renegade History of the United States” by Thaddeus Russell. It’s incredible! You’ll have to let me know how the book that is on your nightstand is reading. 🙂

  2. Knitting fingerless mitts for daughter #1. (She’s at an age at which I’m thrilled she actually wants me to knit for her.) Re-reading the Earthsea trilogy by Ursula K. LeGuin. Total comfort reading as I re-visit these books I first read while I was in junior high.

  3. Wow sister I just checked out the Owlet, I am super impressed and can’t wait to see it!!! Yes the color is beautiful! You know me, I am not reading anything currently but am knitting away on lil ones hat and looking forward to finding some more yarn to start on another project. Keep up the good work!

  4. The yarn is so yummy! The owlet sweater is going to be cute. I have not gathered enough nerve to try a sweater yet. One day though!

  5. I finished two unbloggable design projects, so now I’m back to my Heather Hoodie. One sleeve down, one to go!

    Looking for something new to read on my Kindle…
